AUGUSTA, Ga. — Gregory McMichael, one of the three men charged with killing Ahmaud Arbery and one of the first three people to be charged with a federal hate crime in Georgia, has been moved to a new facility. McMichael was booked into the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification State Prison on Aug. 23, 2022. The Georgia Department of Corrections now lists his most recent facility as Augusta State Medical Prison. According to Georgia DOC, Augusta State Medical Prison provides "centralized acute, specialized medical and Level IV Mental Health services for male and female offenders primarily as transient," and houses "severe medical cases.
