Toys R Us is back in Augusta. The toy and children's clothing chain that closed its location at 3424 Wrightsboro Rd. in 2019 has reopened a store-within-a-store in the first floor of Macy's at Augusta Mall. Macy's is holding nine days of in-store events through Oct. 23 to mark the official opening of Toys R Us shops in 451 Macy's nationwide, according to Stephanie Jimenez, corporate spokeswoman for the legacy department store chain. Augusta's Macy's has set aside about 1,500 square feet for the new toy space, which is decorated with colorful accents reminiscent of the brick-and-mortar stores that Toys R Us operated worldwide until filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2017.
